Williams auditions for Gaither Vocal Band....
Growing up as an all-American guy, 23 year old Adam Paul Williams developed three major themes in his life: a love of sports, a set of deep family values, and a love of Christian music. His high school years in Carthage, Texas were spent in band, choir, and baseball, but his love of music and his core family values are the legacy of a loving family that remains strong today. "Growing up, my dad was in a southern gospel quartet," Adam recalls, "and I always traveled around with them listening to them sing. So from my earliest memories, I was surrounded by Christian music. Just having a family who loves the lord has taught me the importance of a spiritual walk with Christ. I accepted Christ when I was nine years old. I had always grown up in church, and when I realized what I needed to do and felt God calling me, I decided to accept him." On Father's Day 1991, Adam's parents led him in a prayer of salvation to his Heavenly Father, and he was baptized just a few weeks later.
Adam's faith has, in the words of Isaiah, been tested in the furnace of affliction. "The loss of my girlfriend on August 12th, 2003 taught me that God has a plan for everything," Adam recalls. "Though we may not understand his ways, He knows exactly what He is doing and some day we will understand." Adam admits his heart's desire is to be able to sing the Lord's praises forever. "I love going to churches and singing for people. No matter what comes of my professional career, I always want to be able to give God all the glory. Even if I end up singing on the street corner, it'll bring me joy because I know I'm using the gifts God gave me to glorify Him. I'll go where God leads, and in being where He wants me, I know I'll always be happy."
In June, Adam Paul Williams, announced that he was, in fact, one of four artists that received a call from Christian composer and performer, Bill Gaither, to tryout for a new tenor spot in the Gaither Vocal Band. Williams auditioned May 31 during a meeting with GVB members Bill Gaither, Guy Penrod and Marshall Hall. "It was an incredible experience," Williams admitted. Bill Gaither called a month later and told Adam Paul they he was their second choice for the group and had decided on someone else, based on the particular blend they're looking for in the band. Adam Paul stated, “He was very encouraging and very complimentary of my voice and musical style, and I have to say that I was blessed just to have the experience of auditioning for a prestigious group like the Gaither Vocal Band. To have someone like Bill Gaither tell you that you have a great set of pipes, means more than you could know”
Adam Paul is now touring independently, performing for churches and events. Williams’ recently took over the role of Jesus in musical “The Promise” in Glen Rose, Texas as well as portraying Christ in The Passion play at Travis Avenue Baptist Church in Ft. Worth, Texas. Adam Paul has sung for the Southern Baptist of Texas Convention as well as the Baptist Missionary of Texas Association. He has performed for the North American Missions Board in Georgia, and will be appearing at the National Baptist Missionary Association meeting in Alabama and a Global Missions Conference in Columbia, South Carolina in the spring. “My focus is on pursuing the will of God. As long as I keep my eyes on Him and follow His plan, I know he will take care of me and I could never be anything but satisfied,” says Williams.
